So well drawn, a great variety of pen marks and I like the subtle colour.

A really good pen and ink and very interesting too

Stunning John.

Great sketching.

This is lovely - and having recently been to a moth trapping event, I hope I'm right in thinking "Prominent" is the name of the species?

A lovely uncluttered sketch of variety in mark making and subtlety in colour

Thanks everyone for your positive comments, this was my first foray into insects. To answer your question Bobbie, I went searching for more details on this moth that I hadn’t known before. The Prominent Moths (Family Notodontidae) have stout hairy bodies and blend in with the bark/leaves of the trees where they lay eggs. This particular moth species is Nadata gibbosa that apparently enjoys the birches we have in the garden. I will keep a look out for caterpillars later this year!

A super, detailed drawing of this amazing moth John.

Spotted this fellow on a leaf while watering the garden. He obligingly hung around while I went to get my camera. Pen & Ink, coloured pencil, 5x7.
