This works for me Jenny, nicely balanced and a super illustration.

A charming little painting Jenny great textures, good for you for making do!

Jenny it works. Amazing what results from other ideas in other directions. Smashing.

I think it works very well Jenny, in fact it looks as though everything in it was intended!

Thanks Alan, Carole, Derek and Fiona for your positive comments. You've encouraged me to keep trying new ideas. (In doing this one I discovered the joy of using watercolour on gesso is that you can wipe whole areas of colour back to a white base and try again if you're not happy with it!)

I love it Jenny! You have created a very interesting effect...Its always fun to experiment and do something a little unpredictable!!!

Thank you, Chandra!

Gorgeous piece, Jenny! I really like the palette and the composition of this piece. It's also delightfully whimsical.

Thanks, Seok! Glad you like it, it was fun to do - might try some more in this style.

Pen and ink / watercolour on textured gesso. I started out intending to try a purely abstract painting, but it quickly turned into something else. I've used gesso for the first time as a base on top of an old watercolour to save wasting paper. It's turned out to be a strange kind of semi-abstract with a lot of messy areas and a kind of "wasteland" in the middle, and I really can't decide whether it's worked or not. Thought I'd post it to see what others think!
