The Ancient Mariner, Henry Freeman was a Whitby Lifeboatman - painted from a B/W photograph by Frank Meadows Sutcliffe.
This was the very first watercolour I painted with the late Charles Reid. He gave a Crit every evening on our work that day. Terrifying, I can assure you! Such an Icon was going to crit my work in front of all the professionals present at his course.......aaaarrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhh! He was a lovely man, great artist and he will be missed so much by the Art World, as well as by me.
