I do poppies whenever I want to practise a particular technique so I can concentrate on it rather than get distracted with a difficult drawing. Here, I wanted to use a toned paper, using the paper as the mid tone. The black comes from ink & charcoal & the white from white charcoal in a concertina sketchbook I made myself.
