My perfect afternoon too - clever use of the background as an addition

Thank you for your nice comment, Heather...

Great idea with the découpage! I’ll go straight to the cakes if you don’t mind.

Oh yummy. Looks lovely. I love afternoon tea

Thanks, Marjorie - I must be more of a savoury person, as my favourite bit of an afternoon tea is the sandwiches...

Thanks for your encouraging comment, Faye...

Mmmmmm can I come please .

That looks delicious! I love the background - I was thinking of doing something like that but am a bit stuck on watercolours at present.

Excellent . Love the jam pots particularly.

Thank you for your kind comments, Sylvia, Fiona and Andrew - much appreciated...

Very nicely done, addition of news paper is so clever.

Oh my goodness Jan, my mouth is watering now!

Yes pls Jan perfect after a bit of painting.

Thank you for your generous comments, Romila, Frank and Shaun...

They say you can't have your cake and eat it but I think you can Jan!

A great concept very well put together and painted. Tea and cakes...one of life's delights. (Oh...you've left out the French Fancies.)

Thanks for your comments, Chris and Lewis - yes, you're right about the French Fancies - yum!

Now that’s not fair Jan…..just when I fancy something sweet! A super idea, well painted.

Looks good and tasty!

Thank you for your nice comments, Fiona and Juris...

Oh yes, Jan. Can't decide which to have.😄

I posted a painting of an afternoon tea recently, but I felt a couple of things were missing: a cup of tea and a good newspaper/magazine! So I've done the painting again with these two elements. I wasn't sure how to add the magazine, so I made it the background using decoupage. Oil and acrylic on 10 x 12 canvas.
