Love this Ian! I've always had a love of 'framed' images, the focal point framed by a window, trees, anything, and this fits perfectly.

10" x 8" Oil on board. One would romantically like to think of these caves, hewn through the granite cliffs at Porthgwarra, Cornwall, as smugglers' caves; indeed it does feel like that was there purpose. However more mundanely they were created for the local residents to have easier access to the beach in order to harvest the kelp, which was used as fertiliser in the fields.... The painting was made from sketches and photos of a very sulky young man who was 'forced' to explore these wonderful hollowed out passages, he cheered up once his Ipad was restored to him! Honestly the youth of today!
