I love this ian....actually i think your gallery is great. you have a great mastery of colour . love your treatment of the sky and sea.

I have similarly visited the seabird centre, like you the weather was poor but I didnt get out sketching. These are absolutely lovely. You have captured that sense of place, wonderfully. Trying to do seabirds from life I find challenging but I love it, I have never tried gannets as I havent managed to sketch them yet, but seeing this makes me want to have a go. Thanks for posting this.

WS Oil on canvas board 14" x 10". First attempt at some 'wildlife', I have found that Gannets are a great subject as they add a touch of colour to what would have otherwise been a pretty dull painting. A family holiday took us to north of the border, and having visited the North Berwick Seabird centre, inspiration was born. Although I have to add, on the day we were there it was raining, visiblility was zero, and only a few birdies came out to play. Nevertheless the pang of inspiration never left and for the next few days I sketched and sourced all kinds of Gannetry... ...As you can tell, the painting's still a little wet..
