Wonderfully atmospheric. Your palette is beautiful.

A very gentle scene, Ian, and soft colours. I understand the problem with painting the sides of deep canvases which is why I try to avoid them - such a fiddly thing , extending the painting beyond the front. Hope you find a deep frame to suit your taste and this lovely painting!

A lovely gentle rolling scene that draws you right in. An idea re the sides of this box canvas, you might select a mid to deep neural tone that you've used in the painting for the sides..... try it on a piece of paper the same width as the sides first, to see if it works. A warm mid-dark grey?? Just a thought :) Thank-you for your comment on my work, so glad to hear you popped into the Mayne.

WS Oil on canvas 20x8". Underpainted in acrylics in situ from the Stainforth to Halton Gill road, then refined in water mixable oils afterwards. A very changable day this... I painted the sky earlier in the morning, and the landscape as the day brightened... I found myself chasing skies throughout the day, until I came to my senses and left it alone to finish in the studio. The only problem with this is that it is on a box canvas and I omitted to paint the sides of the canvas - duh! Now I'm looking for a deep frame... lesson learned.
