Excellent Spencer.

Really good Spencer, like this alot

Good inspiration Spencer for a nice painting

Thank you so much for your lovely comments Valerie, Sarah, Denise, Cheryl and Heather. It is really appreciated!

Nice one Spencer. Good idea we’ll executed!

A super idea for a series of paintings, and this a great start. A very sad song. You've visualized her as an old woman, I'd always imagined her younger. Don't know why, I can't remember the lyrics giving many clues. No matter either way, that's what makes these interpreations so interesting. I look forward to the next one.

Thanks Lewis. It’s hard to determine her age. I was thinking that a larger proportion of church goers are more mature and perhaps, in these times, she was picking up the rice to use - lots of scope for thought! The statue in Liverpool is more abstract in design and gives no clue to her age. It does show her wearing a headscarf and carrying a bag so I used that as my clue. Strange how we can all interpret things differently isn’t it?

Lovely painting Spencer, I have the song in my head now.

Thank you so much Carole. I was singing it in my head as I was painting her!

I look forward to all your interpretations of in my opinion the greatest band of all time. A good start indeed Spencer.😊👌

Thank you so much Chris. Their songs will extend past our lifetimes as one of the best groups from the UK.

Excellent interpretation Spencer, looking forward to more in the series.

This is really good Spencer I’m looking forward to seeing more of the series.

Thank you so much Fiona and Paul. Glad you liked it!

Very interesting work Spencer, inspired by those famous lyrics. I went to a Paul McCartney concert some years ago, in Manchester. Such a talented group of young artists supporting him, sounded just like the original work. They played this song, it felt very moving.

Thank you so much Stephen. When you look at their song list it is amazing. I will just illustrate a few of them.

I quite agree Spencer, I recently read an article saying that it is unusual in a duo, for both of them to contribute both the music and lyrics. They are both extremely talented.

A good idea, Spencer. I was only thinking on the same lines, this morning when I heard Jupiter…the bringer of jollity, from Holtz Planet suite. Music can be a great source for inspiration.

Good one Spencer, you always come up with such good themes for your paintings.

Thank you so much for your comments Stephen, Ellen and Val. Stephen - you are right. The fact that they could write so many songs together is unusual but just reflects their brilliance. I wonder if they had all survived if they would still be performing and writing. Ellen - I agree. The ideas that can be generated through music is vast. The Planet Suite definitely gives ideas of the planets or of the Gods. Val - thank you. I hope I can create suitable works to reflect their genius.

To start a new series of paintings I’ve decided to illustrate some of the song lyrics by ‘The Beatles’. The initial lyrics for this song are- ‘Eleanor Rigby, picks up the rice, in a church where a wedding has been …’ This was the starting point for this painting.

Decades ago I trained as a Primary School teacher with art and design as one of my subjects but textiles was my main area of work. I enjoy painting and drawing but am…
