A beautiful atmospheric result William.

Lovely watercolour painting William.

What a fabulous result William. Beautiful washes and as always, your trees are magnificent. look after yourself.

Beautifully painted William the trees are particularly good, keep well and safe .

A very appealing watercolour William. Once again, you’ve achieved a lovely Wesson sky…churches always make for an interesting focal point, Wesson himself included Blythborough church in many of his compositions. Have a look, it has very elongated proportions and sits well in the landscape as a simple silhouette.

Thank you all for these wonderful comments and I’m surprised it turned out like this with no plan? I will have a look Alan and I never intend to do a Wesson sky I just let things happen mostly, I have changed my colour palette as well as things were getting to predictable! Hope to catch up on Thursday with all your work as I think I’ve let the side down just lately. You all have a wonderful Christmas and happy painting to all.👍👍

I realise that you aren’t deliberately associating yourself with Wesson, William, purely my observations to some of the similarities in areas of your work. A fine artist he was too, beautiful fresh washes of pure watercolour. I’ve got five original Wesson’s in my collection, one is actually of Blythborough church in the distance, a landscape, and one of Spritsail barges at Pin Mill, plus a stunning oil painting of Beached Trawlers at Hastings. He’s not particularly known for his oils, but he knew how to use the medium to his advantage… I treasure them all. These are just a few of my own collection, I’ve recently purchased two framed half imperial watercolours by Rowland Hilder, who I met during a masterclass he held in 1985, both depicting his trade mark oast houses! Sorry for my ramblings…

A beautiful watercolour, Happy Christmas !

Alan got there before I was able to make the Ted Wesson comparison. Excellent work William, well done!

Thank you again for those lovely comments, Alan I do have one of Edward Wessons watercolour and don’t plan to move it on. As you said he’s a wonderful painter more so with watercolours but he did some wonderful work in oils but I have a soft spot for his watercolours. Your so lucky to have Roland Hilder anthother expert with watercolours, they seem to come from that time along with Crawshaw and J.F.Watson and many more. Just a wonderful period in time!😁

Had no idea when I sat down to paint the other night and just laid the whole wash to create an atmosphere then just made it all up? Apologies for not being on to look at other works but things have been bad with these virus going round!
