Autumn in the Park

Autumn in the Park

the best parts of this painting are its lovely colour scheme, and the way you've achieved the tracery of branches against the light: just on the cusp of being overdone, but - crucially - not over the top. And I speak as one who can fiddle like Nigel Kennedy, but with less happy results. I think the tonal recession could be improved - tones throughout are pretty similar, although on a crisp autumn day, I know that's how it can look. Perhaps a little more modelling on those two trees at the right would help - they are so obvious, because in full light, that the rather stark divide between light and shadow hits the eye a little too forcefully.

Trees are fascinating - especially at this time of year. This was a view in Jubilee Park in Kent.
