I painted this as a memento of a lovely week's painting in Whitby with the excellent local Artist Dave Jefferys. There are so many compelling scenes around Whitby to paint of course and hopefully this one at the mouth of the harbour with the abbey high up in the background qualifies as suitable subject matter.
