Very good I hate doing trees!!

Thanks Linda. So did I. Thats why I tackled it. I prefer to use the oil pastels and build it up gradually, drawing in the shape of the main body of the tree, filling in the sky, the foliage, then working slowly inot the trunk and branches. Its pretty tough but its a really fulfilling outcome and quite theraputic with softer pastels to blend like paint. The best part is hunting for the ideal trees on a sunny day!

Like Linda, I avoid trees like the plague - or anything green for that matter - so anyone who can do trees to this standard gets my admiration. Looking at your painting, I feel that I am lying on the grass on a summer's day looking up though a lacy canopy at a perfect blue sky. Wonderfully painted and very atmospheric.

Well ... life's a strange old place: I love doing trees; I don't think I'd paint at all if it weren't for the opportunities they offer: I've bought Rosemary's great Shiraz riggers precisely to aid me in sculpting and shaping them.. So, speaking as a huge enthusiast for trees and painting trees, I feel fully qualified to say that these are magical: and they absolutely do soothe the mind. I can do this sort of thing when I really try (prove it! Shuddup!) but I know it's hard work, and I also know it's infinitely rewarding.

Agree with Robert...It is very difficult to paint trees. Some of them are thousand years old, and have such characters. I think yours are just great, and so well done..
