Rhythm and repetition in brown
This starts with the still life objects I chose, and arranged and re arranged, I really think some of the early arrangements were better, but it shows how sleeping on it is a good idea before committing. A few of these objects were mine, the others belonged to my neighbours, who kindly let me borrow them, after I emailed several people a watercolour by Ronald Jesty called 'Still life with hydrangea', asking if they had objects in those colours and shapes. Jesty is one of my Idols and his watercolours and compositions are infinitely superior to mine of course, but if I can take baby steps along the rout he has trodden I know I'm going in the right direction. Having said that, it wouldn't do me any harm at all to do at least one painting with the arrangements as close to his as I can before I start expressing myself, all good fun though!
