Interesting and good George

Great drawing and painting.

Nicely done George.

Super George.

Super. I like the addition of people.

Beautifully painted - an interesting ship!

Very good. Did those steps drive you mad!?

A super piece of work George on both accounts.

Is that you with your easel? Lovely Bristol scene, really well painted, George.

Many thanks everyone. I believe the ship came from the breakers yard in Cardiff. It was being renovated and eventually became a popular restaurant, now scrapped? Linda, the figure with the easel was just one of a half dozen of us from the old Bristol Savages Arts Club out for a days painting around the docks.

I’ve never heard of a lightship George, fascinating. I like how you have included the art group in the scene, adds life and activity……a super watercolour.

Thank You very much Fiona, I'm not sure if there are any Lightships in operation these day. I believe that several were taken to be scrapped in Cardiff (but I could be wrong) . Someone bought this one and brought it to Bristol for renovation.

Thank you for the information George, I’m glad at least one will be saved.

Thank You Fiona. A little more information. This lightship became a Bar and Restaurant but was towed away to be scrapped in May 1995. There is another lightship in Bristol moored in Bathurst basin which has been restored and became an entertainments centre.

This is lovely. The colour and the people definitely add something to your drawing.

Thank you George. I like the fact that heritage is recycled and reused in some way. I’m going on a trip on a restored narrow boat next week along the Forth & Clyde canal, Glasgow. The boat (I think there are several) has been restored by a group of volunteers who now run these trips. I’m looking forward to “seeing behind the scenes” of Glasgow, you get a different view and aspect seeing cities from canals and the workings of the industrial era. I might even get some sketches! Or photo’s at the very least!

Great work George- love the touches of colour.

Thank You very much Bobbie.

Have a great canal trip Fiona, I'm sure you will get some good painting ideas from it. Looking forward to seeing what you do.

Thank you very much Shaun.
