A nice bit of countryside-rough! Just how I like it, though if the countryside around here is any guide, it's probably a quagmire at the moment. Still, a walk to look forward to come better weather.

Thank you very much everyone. I thought about the gate being open but decided that I needed it closed to make a continuity with the two pieces of hedgerow across the painting. Of course I could be wrong !

You always paint places where I would love to spend time George…..I’ve probably said that before! I could spend quality time leaning on that gate in to the meadow beyond. Fabulous!

This cropped up again in the More By section, and I read what people had said about the gate being open, and your reply: for my money, I think you were right - I know what they mean of course, but in reality in the countryside, gates ARE closed: that's what they're there for; and the invitation to "enter the painting" can become a bit of a cliché. If you'd ever had cows parading through your back garden, as we once had, you'd be quite keen on closed gates....
