A most delightful painting Frank! I love Bonnard’s work , he’s one of my favourite painters. Gouache is quite an underestimated medium which can in effect produce beautiful art.

This is beautifully elegant Frank and very brave of you to use gouache. Love the movement of the dog in front.

Thank you all for your comments, I've kept this fairly true to the original artist. Michael, how did you know I'd taken the grandchildren to the Star Wars Exhibition in Leicester? I think that they were just as much in awe of the Ancient Egyptian display.

Hang on Studio Wall

This is my version of Bonnard's painting. His was painted in 1890 oil on canvas. My version is done in gouache on paper 20x48 cm. Bonnard was famous for his colourful works, in this one his sister's dress. I've loved working on this, which has given me an insight to how he painted and has also given me greater knowlege of what can and can't be done with gouache, which is a medium that I am currently getting to grips with.
