You're progressing in your new style fast and furious, Jane! Each painting is better than the last. This is really lively and the shadows are really beautifully done.

Recognised this right away Jane as one of your paintings with your new technique, I agree with Seok that each painting in this style is better than the last, the garment is really well painted andI also like the rest of this painting .

Jane your work is improving so much and in this picture I can almost hear the music. In your kind comments against my last drawing you asked if I work direct from a photo. Generally I work from a sketch - I even do a sketch where I have a photo. I then discard the photo and paint from the sketch. I find if I paint from a photo it causes me to tighten up too much in wanting to record the last detail and it also prevents innovation in palette choice. Hope this helps.

This is a beautigul piece. I would like to tyr painting people with instrument. His face is so nice as well. I'll try like you someday.

Thank you Seok, Michael, Graham and Midori for taking the time to comment. I really appreciate this from folk whose work I admire so much and am encouraged to keep trying new things - thank you!

Lovely figurework Jane. I feel that I can hear the music :)

Lovely, just the right amount of detail

i like the simplicity of your watercolours. clean lines, no chaos.

Just outside Medinat Habu temple, Luxor, we came across this man playing a simple stringed instrument of Upper Egypt, called a rababa.
