Somehow, everything is much easier with oils, Jane! But this is more than a credible effort - it's really very good. I love the economy of detail without compromising on the essentials. It's very well done indeed!

Lovely loose, confident watercolour Jane.

I love the simplicity of this Jane. Just the way watercolours look their best!

And you have suceeded Jane in producing a nice fresh and loose watercolour, a nice piece.

Many thanks, Seok, Graham, Fiona and Catherine - your comments are encouraging and I'll keep practising.

Nothin wrong with this Jane. Super

Just caught up with this one Jane - lovely and fresh and I do like the looseness of the background which sets it off so well. Thanks for your comment on my last posting 'New Born'. So pleased that you find black frames to your liking. I use them all the time now for drawings (both pencil and ink) as I think it sets them off so well and presents a contempory image. I haven't tried them for watercolours but spurred on by your comments I will give it a go when I buy in my next batch of frames - the ones I use for drawings are a bit smaller than those I use for my watercolours which generally are framed in 18ins by 14 ins and above

A temple guard on a quiet day at Dendara Temple, some 60km north of Luxor. Another attempt to paint more freely with watercolours. Somehow it's so much easier with oils!
