Wow Carole, I do like this! The colours and scroling shapes are wonderful; I think a painting after a pencil drawing turns out really well as the subject has become familiar and the difficult bits have been "overcome" already! (Not too clear what I mean.....!) Anyway this is great.

Here's my sketch done with colour as James suggested. Terrible paper, bought cheaply from Paper Chase. Thought it would be useful for drawing. It is watercolour paper but hard to take colour.
