Ps, she doesn't know I have posted this :)

So glad you posted it Carole, tell her it's really good, she has managed to capture the little dimples on the skin really well, she must be following you!

Thanks Margaret I will tell her and thank you very much for your comment.

And you know what's needed to go with this Carole....the sun might be just over the yardarm - though it wouldn't stop me if it wasn't! She's definitely caught the essence of a lemon.

Well I think this is superb Carole, I hope she can get her confidence back and carry on the good work.

Definitely takes after you Carole lovely

Just lovely.

Talent runs in the family. I suspect teacher was envious ...?

She did well - nice touch

Thanks Rachel will be over the moon when I tell her about your compliments. She may also kill me for showing it 😳 Yes Gudrun she is much better than me with coloured pencils she has a light touch which I envy :)

Hmmm, that sounds just like my experience. So horrid art teachers aren't just a Singapore phenomenon. And like me, she's the daughter of a fabulous artist, so there should be hope! That's a really lovely piece, Carole, the details are superbly rendered. Please do encourage her to continue, it would be sad to see such talent wasted.

Thank you so much Seok, yes an age old story no encouragement from art teachers. I do make the odd day for us to have a painting session as it is relaxing for her, her job as a community psychiatric nurse can be a bit draining especially as they are very short staffed with 'cutbacks'!

Your Rachel and my Rachael sound so similar with their high pressure jobs Carole. Mine likes nothing better than a long walk with the dogs and then an afternoon "crafting/painting" when she's visiting. Encourage Rachel to do more, this is super and so delicate.

She's far from rubbish !!! I hope she's happy with the confidence boosting comments. She's got some excellent textures on the skin and leaves

Thanks all for your kind comments I will pass them on. Val lovely to have like minded daughters ;)

My daughter Rachel's did this in coloured pencil. Very busy with her career but occasionally I can pin her down to do a bit of art. The usual story, her art teacher broke her confidence at school so she always thought she was rubbish at art.
