Very nicely done. Years ago I always under-painted an oil in acrylic. I think it was lack of confidence. Don’t do it now but there’s nothing wrong if you do. The great thing about oils ( or acrylics) is that you can adjust whenever you want.

Very good, looks like you've used some nice glazes too. (I still undercoat a canvas in acrylic but only one colour to get rid of the white and then oil from then on in)

Nice work on those peppers Rod. I very often do a tonal layer in acrylic initially before working with oils.

15" x 12" Water mixable oil on canvas Another attempt at peppers - this time from my own photo. Better than last time IMO, but I did an underpainting in acrylic, and that rather controlled everything. I have another still life waiting, but I did the two underpaintings at the same time, I think I'll gesso over it and try that one without, using just thinned oils
