Not sure what you are worrying about Fiona, as this painting is delightful. Beautiful atmosphere.

Happy New Year Fiona. I think its a good start to the year. I like it.

Looks pretty darn good to me Fiona

I like the mistiness in the background and the foreground is not at all heavy. You are too hard on yourself, nothing wrong with this one :)

I aways worry about the end result Frank, but I'm glad you like it, thank you. Happy New Year Paul and thank you for looking. Thanks Michael and Sarah I was aiming for a hazy summer day, hope I got a bit of that.

This is just lovely, Fiona. Lightness of touch - achieved! I also love not just the mistiness on the horizon but the touches of delicate colour that you have introduced there. And that tree on the left together with the bushes and fence going away from it are superbly done. And what a great sky! All so well done. Thank you for your gorgeous response to my simple Hogmanay greeting. x

Lionel thank you so much for your lovely description, I had better take it out of the bin and have another look at it!! Lol!

I also like this Fiona, good use of shadows in the foreground too.

Thank you Stephen, much appreciated.

There is nothing failed there Fiona!! It's delightfull! Beautiful soft colours in a gentle landscape with light breeze moving the clouds and the ground full of warmth. Well done!

This is a lovely painting, and I missed it! You have achieved a "lighter" touch, which is just as effective as your "heavier" touch. Like Frank says ...! Happy New Year!!

Thank you very much Satu and Gudrun for your continued encouraging comments....you make all the difference!

wow Fiona, i think it is perfectly lovely :-) full of lightness of touch and colour :-) i love the name of the painting :-p Happy New Year :-)

Hi Fiona your watercolour painting is beautifullly thankyou for looking at my art trees it was my neighbours garden

Bit late I know but it's all BT's fault as I've been without broadband most of new year. Apparently my modem/router/box thingummyjig is past it's best ( a bit like me :) ) and I needed a new one. Anyway, this is just stunning Fiona, I love your lightness of touch and those shadows in the foreground are just so natural looking. A damn near perfect watercolour in MHO.

Happy New Year Rebecca and thank you, I'm glad you like it. Thanks very much Brenda, that's very kind of you. Oh dear Val......... what did we do before computers? Thank you very much for your humble opinion, I didn't know whether it was a bit wishy washy.

This is beautiful Fiona -I so like the lightness of the whole scene. The sky and shadows particularly appeal to me. Sorry I missed it when you first posted it.

Hi Carol, thank you very much for your lovely comment, the sky is my favourie bit. Have you had chance to do any painting?

I reckon this is one of your best. I know the trial and error scene well. Thanks for your posts on my gallery. I hope to encourage more useful critique of works rather than 'great painting' as indicated on my thanks re Dum Cow. What do people really think? Keep those nice transparent washes.

Lovely work Fiona, love that sky and the fences and the church spire fading into the distance

Fiona - you go from strength to strength - despite what you may feel, your painting style is great and professionalism superb!

Hi Fiona Ros P here, just seen your great comment on my moody kitten pet pastel portrait, it is indeed a really moody little thing and that is why it was on facebook i suppose! cheers x

Sorry for the delay in acknowledging your comments; Alan, Ros and Jamie, haven't had chance lately to check all your great works of art or attempt any myself either. Tried one out yesterday.....ghastly darlings!!!! Don't think I'll bother posting it.......

Delightful work again, Fiona. Especially love the soft yellow and warm pinks you chose to give it such a fresh vibrance, and feel of bright morning sun...best

I've titled it 'around the bend' because that's where it sent me. I thought I would start 2013 by adjusting my heavy use of pigment in watercolour and perhaps introducing a little lightness of touch.....failed miserably on both counts! Not keen on the end result but I will persevere. Arches paper and Old Holland watercolours.
