frosty glow perhaps :-) ? i like it, it is a relaxed calm painting :-) what happened to your other castle you were painting in oil, and i created about 1000 before you finished yours? :-p

It is a lovely painting. I can't think of a title right now. I'll have a think.

It's very good so simple but effective well done Fiona,Title something like old man of the river meaning the tree!!:)Linda

Nice moody watercolour Fiona, good 3D effect.

Lovely colours and scene. If in doubt for what to call it , I always go for Winter wonderland if it is a pretty picture which this is :)

Morning Glow. My Swedish friend has sent me a good sunset scene in Bornholm ...

Thank you everyone for your comments and ideas for a title, some good ones so far! Gudrun, have you started that sunset yet? Good luck! Thanks again.

Lovely serene painting of a very beautiful scene. I am assuming that the pinky red depicts that wonderful light you get when the sun starts to think about setting? If I am right, how about The Dying Day for a title? I read in an article recently about selling work which said that the title almost sells the work as much as the actual painting (can't remember which well known artist said this). I thought, how true, as the title takes the viewers mind where you want it to be and conjures an emotion in them which is then consolidated by what they see in the painting. I always try to think carefully about the titles of my paintings but it is hard coming up with ones which reflect what you have been trying to say.

As Linda says: simple and so effective _ did think of a rather daft title but not everyone appreciates my sense of humour - didn't want to offend so decided against it

Looks like a lonely place to me but of course, I'd like to hear Michael's idea!

That sounds like good psychology......imprinting an emotion by a title, good sales procedure too! I would like to hear Michael's idea too Louise....go for it Michael!

You asked for it. My thought was: 'After the PM' given the multi poster who preceded you. But then I thought what else could PM stand for - well M for morning which goes well with the image but I was stuck with P - then it came to - 'Parsnip' - just love the title: 'After The Morning Parsnip'. Bit Goon show maybe or even Dali and whats it got to do with the image? Well I've no idea but 'After The Morning Parsnip' it is !!! I just find it funny. So there!!!!

Should have added - I'm an inveterate giggler - anything can set me off and this did - I must have a medical condition !!! Please forgive me Fiona. Oh well back to my cartoons.

Michael must be having parsnips for his tea! (lol) Keep taking the medication Michael and thank you for always making me smile!! Fiona, your choice but not ' After the morning parsnip'!!

You set me off giggling with your suggestion Michael...I had to read through your comment twice to make sure I had read it right!! I must admit it isn't very romantic but if you add this snippet of info to your title....'After The Morning Pastinum' .......pastinum being latin for parsnip and the Romans believed that the parsnip was an aphrodisiac! We could also call it, in that case' The Morning After The Night Before', bit of a mouthful though!!! Sorry, it doesn't help, I'll keep taking the tablets if you do Lol! I think we both need to get out more?

You're as bad as each other! (lol)

Hello Fiona, lovely pic. don't know if you decided on a title but Linda Easter's the Old man of the river seems perfect to me, any way I really like the recession in this one the different shades of colour on the trees take you into picture effortlessly, lovely work

I'm a simple soul and I like Gudrun's title 'Morning Glow'

Lovely painting Fiona, how could I possibly think of a title after the morning parsnip, LOL

Lovely picture Fiona. If I can't think of a title, i just choose something at random. The colours remind me of pink shirts grey trousers.

Derek, Glennis, Jenny and Pete.....many thanks for your lovey comments and ideas for a title. I am very tempted by the very imaginative title 'After the morning Parsnip' but in the end I think it will be, ' The Old Man of the River' , thank you for that Linda. I'm off to edit it right away. Thanks everyone again for your encouragement and participation. X

Nice one, Fiona. I think the limited palette is superb with the gentle touch of pink and the dominant tree in the foreground makes the picture. I can't think of an alternative title at the moment.

Hi Fiona, It looks like a very simple piece, however colours and composition, everything is perfect.

Well done Fiona but I think you may have missed something here - do you know the the name of the Old Man Of The River ? Actually it's Pa Snip. There ain't no getting away from it !!!

Michael, you're as daft as a brush!!! I did miss it........ well spotted and very funny!!

Many thanks Roger, I like to use only a few colours. Thank you Midori you're very kind.

Wow -I'm so pleased I did eventually come across this one. It is really beautiful and really does express the cold of the scene. I particularly like the reddish/pinky colour. Had a good goggle at Michael's comments too!!

I'm at the coo's tail again Fiona, must do better! I've had a good chuckle reading some of these comments, better than any comedy show LOL Beautiful serene painting with the feeling of the sun rising above the early morning mist, ( and not a parsnip in sight).

Many thanks Carol and Val for your great comments......glad you enjoyed the bit of fun!

Absolutely stunning, Fiona! Such wonderful rendition of depth, and lovely clear washes.

I knew this would get into the top ten! It is a great painting and deserves it's place.

Thank you Thea, I've just had a look through the list and I'm in good company, congratulations to you too!!

For the life of me I couldn't think of a title for this one, maybe because I don't feel connected to it. I have a file I keep pictures, photo's in, when I run out of ideas I have a look through for nspiration, this is a picture that someone sent me a couple of years ago......not sure of it's origins prior to that......the original picture is cool grey's and blues so I've changed the colour scheme totally. Arches paper, Old Holland watercolours; cad orange, U. marine, C. blue, V. brown. Any ideas for a title? Thanks for looking.
