What a talented duo you both are and what a lovely thing to be able to do with your daughter

Two superb paintings , I like them both for different reasons, your daughter is very good at painting trees . Woukd like to see a single photo of each one , why not put them on the forum and say more about the day and the paintings .

Thank you very much George, Heather and Paul. Paul, I cannot take a good photo of mine because I left it there, for the owner of Histon Manor, a very nice lady who organised the event. It's a new competition in Cambridge. There were 80 artist, a few of them professionals. Plenty of free coffee and cake. Money went to a charity. When we arrived it was raining, when we started painting very cloudy, then sun came out and it was super hot, so we had a proper plein air painting experience. The place is beautiful, the house/mansion and the gardens and land, with ponds, sheds, trees and all that. Some parts wild, some garden. A few selected pieces (not ours) are going to be exhibited on a David Hockney's exhibition. I would love to attend next year to this plein air event again. I tried very hard to introduce subtle value/colour variations in the shaded trunks but wasn't able to get them right so in the end the shed took the protagonism. If I were to work in the studio I would darken a bit the interior and try to improve those tree trunks.

How lovely to share a common interest. Two very skilfully, executed paintings, particularly painting plein air. I admire the natural approach in both paintings - they are both places so reminiscent of visits to the countryside.
