Another sky by Federico Abascal

That’s a lovely sky. Soft brushes v stiff brushes - I suppose it depends how much paint you lay on. I always use soft brushes, of differing sizes, I can’t seem to achieve what I want with hog brushes though I admire the work of those who use them.

Another very good one too. I'm with Marjorie re stiff brushes - soft brushes and lots of glazes are my friends.

A beauty

Excellent painting.

Thank you very much for your comments. I find fascinating that brushes make the experience and the result so different, they all have their advantages. Stiff brushes make it easier for me to put the paint where I want, and to do interesting brushstrokes. But soft brushes are great for adding paint on top of other paint. You can put more paint at first with a stiff brush, but with a soft brush you can add many layers without disturbing the layers underneath

Oil on A3 canvas. I may give it another pass, just out of the oven. Painting Friday. Lately I've been trying soft brushes for the skies but I went back to my old stiff friend. It may need some softening
