White dog roses

Very delicately painted Emma

I agree with Heather, Emma, this is delightful!

Emma that's a beautiful painting, I remember the wild rose growing at the side of the old railway line going up to the old iron ore mines on the Eston Hillls when I was taking the children to school, a long time ago!! It brings back lots of happy memories of day's gone by.

So, so beautiful Emma.

Painted beautifully, I can imagine it brightening up the area where it grows.

You convey the delicacy of the flowers so effectively with the subtle shifts of tones. Beautifully done.

Very difficult exercise to paint white on white but you’ve succeeded brilliantly Emma using subtle tones. Lovely study.

Thank you all - Linda, I’m glad it brought back happy memories.

Thank you Maureen.

A plant growing in the Old Town area of Middlesbrough, which has been left to go back to nature (by accident rather than by design, I think!). Watercolour on Not paper, 16x12". Transparent yellow, french ultramarine, permanent sap green, permanent rose, light red. Hopefully it’ll still be there in the autumn and I can add the hips in the blank part of the page.
