I love your bird studies Emma they constant reminder of what’s around us and how lucky we are to witness their lives. As I write this, there is a Tawny Owl calling outside the window in the woods…..it doesn’t get any better. Merry Christmas to you!

This is a wonderful painting Emma the colours are rich you have lovely shadow areas the birds have a nice shape. So the question is what are you not happy with?

Thanks everyone! Keith - I’m not happy with the left foreground bird, though can’t really say why - just something not right! But nobody else seems to mind so maybe I’m being over critical.

Martin, I think the leg’s ok, it’s roosting with one leg up - no, it’s something about the head or the expression - can’t put my finger on it.

Well done Emma, I've never seen Lapwings in the snow, but they're often down here at Pennington Marshes...not easy to see the subtle colours of the birds. I very much like your bird paintings.

I’m not totally happy with this, but here it is anyway - lapwings resting in the snow, I’m guessing they’ve just arrived from the continent as there were several flocks heading inland as well.
