Redpoll in the roses

Comments

Beautifully painted Emma 🙂

As always, learning about birds every time and what a great little painting.

So well done, beautifully painted, I like the fact that you've left the background unpainted, it makes the bird and branch really pop.

Beautiful

Excellent painting Emma! Beautiful bird too.

Always beautifully painted and attention to detail, gorgeous Emma. I was surprised to see two pairs of Redpoll in this new garden last summer, the garden backs onto broadleaf woodland and I didn’t think it open enough for them. We did get quite a few at our last garden, we were surrounded by farmland there.

Excellent painting Emma.

So beautifully painted Emma.

Thanks everyone - must be lovely to have them as regulars Fiona, hope they’ll be nesting!

Thanks Coral.

This is a common redpoll, which isn’t really that common in the UK - they just tend to stop off on migration back to Scandinavia. First time I’ve ever seen one, and she only stopped very briefly, so this had to be done from photos and memory (apart from the rose bush). Watercolour on Arches HP, 10 x 7 ".
