Soon to be overpainted

I think you must be starting a new trend here, Derek. I've probably up to 50 paintings that I'll end up re-painting - I look forward to the next re-painting of this painting, hope it's abstract in style.

Thanks Pat, it is as you hope, have just broken for lunch then a rugby a'noon with a glass of wine, some reading.

I have used most of my old stuff, rejects or not to experiment with my new (enforced) style. Funny thing my wife who is my sternest critic has stopped looking in and saying, now and then, " I like that".

Yes Derek but your wife will grow to like them

Doubt it a lot dennis, but we'll see.

A 'Phoenix from the ashes' idea, can't wait to see how it develops Derek.

The world's your lobster Dennis, as they say...or not.

Or even... Derek....gin and rugby eh?

Thans Gudrun, Fiona and Marjorie.

The rugger was OK in the 2nd half . Coffee during that then G&T and red wine for dinner while bloody Dancing on. Oh how I hate that progreamming .
Luckily no Trick people calling at door. Now at pooter as the sound on The Dresser a "so called" flagship drama has such crap sound recording I can't understand it and wanted to.
Grrrr Grumpy

I wouldnt over paint this derek because it is quite original. To me it looks like the train is closer to the viewer than the plant. The plant is huge. Can you see what im getting at? Its a fine work. Seems like the train is about to be caught up in this monstrous form.

Thanks Michael but sorry too late. I can see what you mean though and this was from a photo if I can remember back in those days. I did like the almost sihoutted appearance at the time. Not in my mind those days to work an abstract, I think the shrub/plant should have been stronger in tone to bring it right into the forefground

Actually I like it as is, Derek. That foreground plant is superb and the train and that brilliant spot of light in the distance actually brings the whole scene to life. I could see it looking very finished in a mount and frame.

Thankyou Seok. I did like the plant but I was into train mode then. The brilliant spot of light was one of the reasons it falied.

O thats a shame you have already painted it over derek. I shouldnt worry too much about tone my friend. It is one of the best renderings of a plant ive seen. Its so easy to make plants stylised. This is what i dislike about academic art. Not that all academic work is so artificial but you have made this plant look like true to life nature because it is imperfect. Im glad we can all still see this work.

Thank you Micael, it might be finished today

Eleventyeight as my hashing pals called my new age recently, it's supposed to sound better. Trying to paint every day in acrylics using only expired credit/debit cards, and partially succeeding as they're only for me and not show these days.
