I think it's a charming and well-balanced composition Derek. Lovely autumnal shades and the trees behind the cottage are wonderfully done.

Thanks Dennis, Kim, Paula and Sarah. Yes the tree was the pull but I didn't think the scene was right, maybe not enough darks or something to do with tones.

Derek, you're welcome to see my climbed any way which suits you - pulling or pushing! e is hauling himself up of course (the 'shadows' from feet being there to simulate movement), but a lady spent about 20 minutes staring at the original painting before asking me timidly "Excuse me, but is he actually lifting?". So there you are. Sisyphus perhaps?

30 x 40cm on Bockingford 140 which didn't work right for me somehow. The tree was the initial interest and I felt I should add local colour as it were and the chap was out mowing his paddock. This is the village where the famous agri college is and the BBC broadcast from.
