Great painting - loads to look at and enjoy. Isn't rust just a marvellous subject!

Thanks Thea, my wife commented that it's dynamic.

A fascinating painting, Derek, I love the apparent spontaneity of it despite the complexity of the subject matter; I guess you've got a permanent source of inspiration there!!

Yes James I have unlimited access and have many sketches and some finished work from there.

Great subject, and colors I like the way you've painted the trees too.

Thank you Kevin, trees are not easy for me and I think I finished them at home with the mixed media away from the initial watercolour.

It's taken me ages to look at your painting Derek, it's full of wonderful and interesting areas; the still intact window of the wagon, the rust and the trees are full of fabulous swirling movement.

Thank you Fiona and Helen. I do enjoy going there

Brilliant painting. I just love the subject and the way you've painted it.

Hi Derek, who's a lucky feeler, to have a friend with so many great painting subjects, this is certainly my favourite subject matter. Love your composition and execution, what medium have you used?

Thanks Peter, yes it is great to have it and a short drive there and always something new to work with. I used watercolour initially and then pastel and some ink.

Hi Derek, ever thought about using coloured pencils, they are a great medium to use especially with watercolour as the backing or undercoat. Check out the UKCPS site.

Great feeling of machinery rusting away Derek, you've made old junk look quite beautiful!

Thanks Peter and Frank. It's an artist paradise if you like old machinery. No I haven't thought about the pencils, but I just feel I have enough stuff and media to be playing with.

I love this one Derek. It is so full of atmosphere and nostalgia. You have some lovely paintings on display.

Thanks jennifer, I very rarely go there these days as it;s quite awkward for me to get around, what with being driven, the aircast boot on one foot and two crutches, but hopefully by middle of the nest year I will be back on my own 2 feet and active again.

43 x 33cm on paper in 2 sittings, plein aire and finished at home. My friend has a huge collection of old machines in various states of disrepair including transport, farm, showman and road works.

Eleventyeight as my hashing pals called my new age recently, it's supposed to sound better. Trying to paint every day in acrylics using only expired credit/debit cards, and partially succeeding as they're only for me and not show these days.
