I like my jazz Derek, and like this lots....smokey, cool atmosphere , think I'll go listen to some Oscar Peterson with my lunch.

Good one, Derek.

It's a lovely painting Derek first time I've seen this sort of work from you and I like it .

I like this very much.

This is very good Derek, you are really versatile with your subject matter.

Thank you Andre, Cesare, dennis and Ants. Andre it is an Oscar CD but I did this free hand and about twice the size so wasn't aiming for a likeness. Saw him live at Ronnie Scotts in London way back when.

I like this, Derek.

Cracking Derek love the lost edges and the highlights on his face.

This looks marvellous Derek, great stuff!

Derek this is an absolute smasher! You handle pastel very well.

Worked well Dennis.

Great indeed, Derek. Love the colour and the soft ambience...

That’s splendid Derek.

Apologies DEREK, don't know what I was thinking of. Shows how much I like it though because I returned for another look!

Super work Derek, you have caught that smokey atmosphere of a jazz club here.

Thank you Alan, Ellen, dennis, Barry, Margaret, Fiona, Fiona, Sylvia, Ruth, Michael, Russell and Stephen.

Wonderful painting Derek, great result.

Well done Derek ,you have caught him well, unmistakable. I too saw him for the first time at the Royal Albert Hall with J.AT.P. I THINK IT WAS 1954! He had a big hit with Tenderly. Also on the bill that night was Ella.

Thanks Fred. It isn't a likeness, but it could be. We saw Ella too at Ronnie Scotts but much later in the 60s

Hi Derek not seen you on Pol lately I hope you are well mate.

26 x 23cms. From one of my CDs. First attempt for a long long time with minute, left over pieces of pastel on black sketch paper. Done this morning with interruptions to help my wife on the computer.Dropped the tiny pieces many times with my lack of dexterity and grip, but reasonably pleased.

Eleventyeight as my hashing pals called my new age recently, it's supposed to sound better. Trying to paint every day in acrylics using only expired credit/debit cards, and partially succeeding as they're only for me and not show these days.
