Many thanks everyone and I appreciate it very much. And Michael I think a telegraph pole is pleasing as it brings a vertical against an otherwise largely horizontal composition . I picked this up from the artist Norman Battershill who was a favourite of mine.

Exquisite Dennis. PPP ( perfect pole placement ) as usual but now PPS too ( perfectly placed sheep ). When you start oil painting again, try translating this picture into luscious paint. It&#39;s a beautiful image. I love it. You&#39;re explanation of why a vertical is needed in a largely horizontal composition is spot on too. Libby.

Thank you Diana and Elizabeth ,when I got the comment about the pole PPP I thought it was from you Elizabeth but surprise it was from Michael . If I did all my paintings in oil though I would have no room to move my wife has o c d and it would not go down well , I live in sterile conditions . lol Thanks again.
