Denis, I am really enjoying the view into your sketchbooks. Some of it, in my view, is stunning work. It is also inspiring to me. I have an A4 sketch book ... but it is not full of very much! Perhaps I should be more disciplined.

My sketch books sort of evolved. I think that they took on a different feel when I realised that it didn't really matter what I produced. It was for my enjoyment - no one else's! There are lots of pages with 'failures' on them. So what?

I too love sketch books Denis . What a joy for you to have them going back into the dim and distant.... ( are you related to Wilfred ? ) This is splendid..

This is a lovely drawing from when you were a boy Denis, back in 1949 eh and a mapping pen with Indian Ink, that must have been a much more organised art department in that school than they ever where when I was at secondary school back in the early to mid 1970's!

Obviously showing that you have had talent right from an early age!! Great drawing.
