Lancaster
A friend of my daughters had an uncle who had served as a rear gunner in Lancasters during the war and survived! I never met him but evidently he took great pride in showing all his visitors this watercolour and showing them his vulnerable, precarious, perch.. One of the pleasures which I derived as a result of painting this picture, was visiting Coningsby to see the real thing and to learn all about the gallantry of the young heroes who flew in them.
