Wisbech Market Place circa 1900
For many many years, there was a photographer in Wisbech named Lilian Ream. During her lifetime she made photographic records of the town, surrounding area, and its residents. Thousands of photographic plates were discovered after her death and then published after restoration work had been done. My coloured drawing was made using one of Lilian Ream's photos. I thought it to be a wonderful composition and I used a sepia tint to evoke the period when the original photo was taken. Not a car to be seen - just horse and cart, long dresses with bustles and a variety of market stalls.
