This is beautifully done, Debs! Worth being an illustration in a book :)

Super lace-like quality to it Debs

Thanks Sarah and Michael for taking the time to comment, much appreciated!

Agreed you are great at these illustrative type of paintings and you obviously enjoy them

Thanks Ros for your nice comment!

Wonderfully creepy and macabre, the effect, I am hoping, you are trying to achieve!

Yes thank you Gudrun - creepy and macabre, just the effect I was after!

Magnificently macabre Debs....love it!

Thanks Fiona - I'm glad you got the macabre twist!

Hey Debs cheers for you comment on my little ACEO of 'little blue eyes' the photo off pmp website, glad you think it's sweet I got quite a kick from doing that mini work and fighting to get the same detail into it that would be in normal sized one, I played safe and went for a tiny version of one of my ginger works so cheated a bit I suppose! Your lovely comment on my page on the pmp website found me as well, it's much more complicated on that site, interesting 'cos of the way it works and for new ideas of what to paint, but one of the biggest pains in the neck on that site is that every, and I mean every, photo or blog page or discussion group you so much as click on, you get every single email that they get, copied to you as well, so you suddenly have 30 or more emails on your home computer! I am getting sick of deleting them all, anyway bye for more xx

Thanks for the info Ros - hope you got my message!

I am sorry, Debs, that I missed this one. Have been down with a bad throat and cold and have only managed to trawl the gallery today to see what gems I have missed. I love the story behind this one and admire the talent you have in seeking out these unusual subjects for a painting. The detail is impressive (that curtain must have taken ages!) and the drawing is just right - perfect in all it's proportions and placing on the paper. You have such a talent for these illustrative pieces that I wonder that you have never offered your services to a publisher! P.S. When are we to see your wonderful book????

Thanks Thea for your very kind comment - I hope you are feeling better now. The book? - well I've stalled at the last page, absolutely no excuse for it, I shall give myself a severe talking too!

Illustration for Keats's poem 'Isabella or the pot of Basil' in which Isabella buries the head of her lover Lorenzo,[ after he's been killed by her brothers]. She plants the head in a pot and grows Basil in it. She tends the basil plant keeping it wet with her tears, so this is my 'take' on it [ lolk closely at the pot!] after this I must paint something light and cheerful! lol ps I have just discovered the wonderful Harry Clarke, so the tiny figure in the background is a homage to him! Thanks for looking.
