Dawn, what a lovely title and what a lovely boy! So rewarding to give another chance to a pet. I love the painting and Jack looks a lovely lad.

Thanks, Marjorie. I really love this boy. The exhibition is entitled "What matters". And to me, this is not just about the love for my dog, but about companionship, loyalty, trust, fun and all those other values that make a dog man's best friend x.

Aww so beautiful Dawn. I look after my Daughter's rescue dog while she is working. A great portrait!

Portrait of my rescue dog, Jack, for an exhibition of work entitled "What matters"by Art in Life community art group, which will be held in Warrington Museum in March. Art in Life is a community art group, which I joined just over a year ago. Acrylic on canvas 20 x 16 inches. I got Jack from Cheshire Dogs' Home last April. Sadly his owner was too ill to care for him any longer and I had just lost my little dog, Meg, after 14 years.

About the Artist
Dawn Halliwell

I started painting in Jan 2016 after the death of my youngest sister. I found it great therapy and still do! I love experimenting with different techniques and media. I mainly work in pastel or oils for pet portraits, but I also enjoy doing ink portraits with the odd landscape thrown in for good…
