Nicely drawn and painted David, some great marks and colours. Just a little worried about that diagonal dark. I guess it's a fault or something in the rock but to me it drags the eye.

Hi Derek thankyou for your comments do you mean the diagonal dark at the lower outer edge of the cliff .It is a small area of grass accentuated by the shadow

Squeal .... get away from the edge, get away from the edge......! Only half joking, chalk cliffs are utterly treacherous and I've seen people do really stupid things up there, eg leaning over the edge blissfully unaware there's a huge fault line just out of their sight which could bring the lot down at any minute. That was the Health and Safety Announcement. I imagine the line is either a fault in the rock or algae and weed deposited where the sea washes regularly over that promontory. It certainly looks like Isle of Wight cliffs, from the wetern side of the island: would this be near Headon Warren?

spot on as ever Robert, painted last year after a visit on a really windy cold day .I had intended to paint a view looking down on the needles but put it on the back burner (oh! by the way this is not painted on mdf!!)

Thanks for that David, thought so.

Another fine addition to your series of "cliff" landscapes. The detail in the foreground cliffs is tremendous. Fine work again David.

many thanks Andre lovely comments

Very fine piece of work, David. The area of grass to which you refer provides a tonal contrast to the paler sea, It works well for me.

thankyou Ruth lovely comments

You almost need sunglasses to look at this David, there's such brilliance to the light.....and the painting of course! Love the surfy sea, especially how the the white surf hugs the contours of the wave action.

brilliant comments Picasso Phipps thankyou. On the day I was on these cliffs the wind apparently was close to 80 miles an hour I did struggle with my easle (not) painted from photos and a quick sketch thankyou again .

LOL...David! I actually did a painting in the style of Picasso once, as a joke, it's called 'Girl with a pear earing'. I think it's in my odds & sods folder, it may give you a giggle!

send, send, send it please David Harrison

I don't think I can attach a pic with the 'contact this artist' link David. Will you be on the gallery any time today, I'll re-post it for you.....it's NOT brilliant I might add, it was just a bit of fun.
