Superb especially under the circumstances Russell well done

Fabulous you caught that pondering look Russell, maybe in his old memories.

Aquicky for you Russell is an accomplished work to most . well done mate

Absolutely captured a great character Russell, wonderful drawing.

Wow, for a quickie it's quite special. The folds in the face are brilliant, and the expression of the mouth spot on. With it being a 'quickie' there's an element of looseness and freedom to it. A wonderful portrait.

Good work..well done.

I agree with all the other comments. A fine image. Your gallery is a gem.

You have enormous talent if this is a quickie, Russell.

Thank you all for your comments. I know that many artists on this site can paint quickly and loosely but whenever I try to paint like this I'm always left somewhat dissatisfied by the end result and with an urge to correct any obvious flaws e.g. his ear is slightly too low! A morning to 'complete' a painting is quick for me but perhaps no so rapid for others? Thanks once again for the positive comments, I truly appreciate them.

A very successful painting, Russell - I don't see any flaws!

It's a success Russell and very "painterly".

For a quick study, that's mighty fine work Russell. It would be the same had you taken a while. Nice work.

What a superb result for a quickie and worthy of wall space anywhere

This gentleman was sitting opposite me in a local coffee shop, he was very relaxed and almost dozing, i did a quick pencil sketch and completed the pastel piece the following morning , very much a 'quickie' for me!
