Latest commission 'Ready Aye Ready' and my first opportunity to feature a fire station scene, in this case East Hull station ( which has recently closed ). The young lad in the painting enthusiastically pointing out some interesting fact to his grandad would go on to make a career in the Brigade at this very station and indeed train on the central vehicle, a Merryweather AEC Mercury pump escape. The left hand vehicle is a Merryweather Turntable ladder on a 1950 AEC Regent chassis and the vehicle inside on the right is a Cuerden pump on a Commer chassis. Many years later the same young lad can now reminisce on the scene from the comfort of his armchair! Enjoy
