Its quite satisfying to paint in monochrome, you have achieved a good sense of perspective. The marker on the right with the 6 on helps to set the scene.

I like studies like this David, you get to the bare bones of tone, also I like the simplicty of the one colour. I do quite a few in ink using just one colour and bleeding water into it where I want a thinner wash.

It's funny that you mentioned the '6' sign Sylvia, because that's exactly what I thought! D

A couple of weeks ago in class we were asked to bring a picture in, so I took this shot on my camera phone whilst walking to a friends house. It had to be B&W as it was a study of tone. In fact, of the five weeks at college, the first four have been about lights and darks - I guess it's important then! I should add, I'm not a morbid person, it was the perspective of the road and the building that interested me! I painted this at home though, not in actual class time. D
