Keep posting - good start. I'd say more, but I dropped off at the keyboard around an hour ago, have just woken up and discover it's 1.44am...... not quite sure how I did that............. How did you do that sky, I wonder??

Probably my favourite of your postings so far.You certainly have nothing to worry about - great feeling of recession, warm colour in the foreground etc Could have added a bit more blue in the distant trees but such a small point - great first effort!

Well, if this was my first ever painting I'd be pleased as punch! I don't think you need worry about which way your new hobby will progress David.......up,up, up, is the only way!! Look forward to seeing more.

Hi all Wow.....you're comments have a/ made my day and b/ really encouraged me to keep at it! So, thankyou, thankyou! I'm really glad you mentioned the clouds, because that's what I really liked about it. As I said, it was my first attempt, so I did it quite a few Weeks ago. I did it from a tutorial in a book, which you can get from Amazon for just over a fiver used. It's a great book, spiral-bound, glossy and written in a modern style. So the clouds: 1. Wet-into-wet wash...top half ultramarine, with phthalic blue underneath, flat brush. While still wet, lift out the clouds using crumpled kitchen paper. 2. Let it dry for about ten minutes. Next build up cloud effects with different tones of an ultramarine/burnt umber mix. Using the same mix, work down the clouds using a darker mix for the undersides of the clouds. Then used smaller brush towards the bottom. I did this a few weeks ago, so I can't totally remember...but I think it was 50% skill and 50% luck!
