Stunning! The paint over the newsprint works so well. The detail in the ravens feathers is excellent. The moon is beautiful, especially where the light is bright against the ravens plumage.

A wonderful composition with a good sense of values. This could be a dust jacket for a book by M.R. James (author of ghost stories). Buying those 1920's newspapers was a clever idea.

Acrylic on newspapered wood panel 16 x 20 inches. I bought a job lot of genuine 1920's newspapers with this idea in mind. I glued the paper to the panel with acrylic binder and sealed it with the same. I then covered it with clear gesso. I really liked the clear gesso it has lots of tooth. I'm sure it would be great for pastels too. The moon behind the raven is a bit clichéd but it needed something there.
