If this is your third oil, Monsieur should be proud of you and of his teaching. But I bet he manages to hide the former well! We do that; wouldn't do for pupils to enjoy a rush of blood to the head..... I don't have any suggestions on how you might improve it because I wouldn't want you to take them up and spoil it.... maybe a few highlights in the far trees, say at the left where the painting tails off a bit. But if you do, don't tell Monsieur I said so - I'm not good at dealing with Gallic scorn....

Actually - further reflection: I'm not sure I'd follow that advice at all; no, best leave it to your tutor who can see the work in the flesh and give you much more appropriate advice.

Many thanks Robert, No Gallic scorn as I no longer live in France, am now in Gozo, second isle of the Maltese archipelago. The first two oils are on my gallery, pages. I must say that I have seemed to take to oils a little like a duck to water, love the way one can manipulate the medium. Kind regards Chris

Full of colour and so very nice. A lovely composition :)

Thank you Sarah for your comment, much appreciated.

A beautiful, sunny painting Christopher! Perspective works very well and the colours are gorgeous. Well done!

Thank you Satu, for your very nice and welcome comment, I had great pleasure in constructing the painting, hoping my teacher will be happy this coming tuesday.

Here is my third oil, this is a round-about I found one day in France, I was so taken with the profusion of flowers growing so wildly that I simply had to return home for my missing camera. I had always thought to paint the scene but had doubts about how to go about it. This week my teacher asked, " what do you want to do". no idea I replied. He then asked if I had any pictures in my box, yes I have a few. so he chose this one and said its about time you tried something different, here it is, I really felt good building the base washes blocking in the basic shapes and then starting with the sky, moved down the picture. I am not sure what next to do, is there any advice out there please before I take it back to Monsieur next Tuesday. I have tried to obtain an effect of perspective, both with the flowers and the sky, hope it works.
