This is a ruin above Mggar Gozo, the scene is through an old gate across Comino and to Malta, the mainland !!. Pastel on 140lb white NOT. My principle interest was the texture of the stones etc, so I pre painted a line and watercolour underpainting and then used Schmincke soft pastel to very good effect as the paper gave the texturing sought.
