Nocturnal studies are not an easy subject. I think this is great. I love shadowy areas in a painting. The way you have portrayed this part of the village on this moon light night encourages the imagination. The lights at the window, a nice toutch. Very nice.

Thank you Carol Anne, I have just looked at your gallery and made a comment, people have said that my own is varied I think you too show a range of works, impressively. I intend to re-do the picture above on a leaf of Hahnemuhle black 170gram paper in larger format, as the study was done on palin cartridge paper not acid free. Best egards to you.

Monday evening when the moon was at its best, largest according to the experts on these matters , I took the dog for his walk and saw the moon above a quiet corner of our village, so went back to the house in search of my camera and took the photograph with the thoughts that , 'I wonder if I could re-produce this' well here is my effort, This is a preliminary sketch on black paper, just to see if I could capture the moment. I also wondered about the lamp post in the corner perhaps not setting quite right with the corner of the building, but now think that it worked rather well !!!. Next step will be a larger picture on proper pastel paper. I would welcome any comments, critical or otherwise as this is my first attempt at a nocturnal study.
