Superb washes and great simplicity.

I agree with Michael at the way you have hinted at the complex buildings, just enough detail to describe the scene. Good contrast in the centrepiece, the lovely fountain and the water looks convincing. Perhaps the cast shadow could be a little stronger on the tight hand wall?

I love the contrast between the soft background and detailed fountain.

Watercolour 56x38cm, on Saunders Waterford, rough, 640g. In the late afternoon the sun illuminated the Neptune’s Fountain, the center of city life in the historic old town of Trento. Here are the busiest bars and street cafés lined up below the arcades. The facades of the houses surrounding the fountain had been already in the shade. Some people set on the steps, other strolled around and talked with friends. This is one of my favorite places to represent the Italian flair very much. I just had to paint it!
