The Pond in the Wild Garden
Acrylic on paper 17x15ins This pond is at the very end of a boggy meadow which I always think of as a Wild Garden. It is in the Galloway area of Scotland and is a place I have visited many times . Mostly I make sketchbook studies of the Wild Garden because its difficult to set up an easel as the ground is very soggy. I perch on a bit of tough grass here and there and peer over the tall stems of the bog grasses to draw. I have tried to use paints here but if anything drops it is immediately lost amongst all the vegetation. I did manage to do several sketchbook paintings from the small dilapidated hide however, and this painting comes from that.
